Members of a school netball team from Australia stayed with us two nights in mid-October during their tour of the UK. We had a good time with them, but after a while some odd behavior began to surface!
Kobi, the hoops dog!

Number 2 joins number 1 at senior school for the first time
There she goes down the runway! In case you haven't heard from her in a while, rest assured that she did land safely after a wonderful 30 minute flight - WITHOUT AN ENGINE!

Is she studying the instruments or are her eyes closed?

Diana's big present this year was a glider ride to 3000' AGL. She looks a little nervous here!
These two preferred to recline on the deck while others steered the yacht

We didn't have a crow's nest so she acted as lookout as the front of the yacht

At the end of August, the Saunders family invited us to join them on their 45 foot yacht for a beautiful day of sailing across the Solent between Hamble and the Isle of Wight. Kobi had a really good time though he was lashed to the mast!
This beautiful feline surprised us with her new look following a sleepover!

Mum and daughters celebrating her 47th birthday

The month of August can't go by without celebrating Diana's birthday
Mini-land was very impressive. Here she is in front of St Paul's Cathedral made entirely of lego blocks.

She could drive, but she couldn't stand up in a bubble on water!

This young lady passed her driving test and left Legoland with her driver's license swinging from her neck!

Brett and I made baskets at the free throw booth to win stuffed animals for the kids

In mid-August, our youngest one and I joined Brett and Lark and their kids at Legoland in Windsor. This ride was more fun than we expected (notice Lark's expression)!

Feeling good!

This year the barber surprised us with a star that reminded me, ugh .... of the Dallas Cowboys!

Number 2 went in for his customary haircut. Two years ago he had a lightning bolt.
The cool girls!

Our youngest daughter has sprouted up and passed Nanay!

We left North Carolina and flew to Illinois to join Diana's family including our nephew and niece
The three amigos rafting again

Barely hanging on . . .

Is it really glass?

Who needs two arms to water ski?!!
Must be big sister driving the boat again!

Little Dog heading outside . . .

Flying off the wake

The Stewarts set a family record with a game of 11-man solitaire
. . . and the younger sister couldn't believe it!!

The older sister got to drive the boat . . .

Grandpa enjoyed bingo from the sidelines where he worked on his abs

Bingo was the big event one evening led by the Spanish-speaking host, Bob

We flew from Niagara Falls to North Carolina where we stayed with Al's parents and were joined by his brother, Bob, and his kids. Rafting behind the boat was a crowd favorite!

In the afternoon we drove to 'Niagara on the Lake' and spent an hour at Lake Ontario where we walked a bit and skipped rocks. These two lovely ladies allowed me to take their photo.

Inundated with water while in the 'Maid of the Mist' at the base of Horseshoe Falls

The 'Maid of the Mist' in front of Horseshoe Falls has the approval of the kids with the ice cream

The 'Maid of the Mist' passing the American Falls on the way to Horseshoe Falls

The kids jumped for joy at the thought of being at the base of the thunderous Niagara Falls!
Other people looked kind of funny!

Later on we visited the 4D studio to view the history of the Falls. Some of us looked like we were trying to stay dry . . . .

A family picture downstream of the Falls where we viewed the class six rapids.

We flew from Stockholm, Sweden back for an overnight stay at Al's brother's house in London then returned to Heathrow the next day to fly to Buffalo, New York. Upon arrival we hired a car and drove to a B&B in Niagara Falls, Canada where we called it a day. The next day we spent the day on the Canadian side at Horseshoe Falls.

The shipyard where Lech Walesa worked

When in Poland one must have a Polish sausage!

We came across another familiar face while walking through the center of old town

Can you find a familiar face backed by a fountain and painted buildings reminiscent of our trip to Germany?

Shortly after arriving in Poland, we boarded a coach for a 45 minute ride to Gdansk. In 1980, a strike by 17,000 shipbuilders saw Solidarity, led by shipyard electrician, Lech Walesa, recognised as the first non-communist trade union in the then Soviet Eastern block. The move was one step that led to the eventual collapes of communism across Eastern Europe.
